‘Murderball’ aka wheelchair rugby – as brutal as it sounds? Yup

Whether it’s wheelchair rugby or ‘murderball’, so-called because of a film of the same name, I had no idea what to expect.

So I headed to an Australia vs Sweden Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby match on day eight of the London 2012 Paralympic Games at the Basketball Arena on September 6, 2012.

It was oofness personified in the high-contact, athlete-tumbling sport. Throw a certain renowned Aussie, one Ryley Batt, into the mix, and it’s full-on battle from the first minute.
